Why Spirituality?

Spiritual practices have been around longer than the initiation of modern civilization, yet there is a sudden immersion of spiritually oriented practices into western society.

It seems that the fast paced technologically oriented nature of the modern world is what is causing this earning for more meaning.

Proponents of science sometimes equate belief in a higher power to weakness. They argue that those that can’t conquer their limitations use the acceptance component in their religious affiliations as an excuse to justify their lack of success. They question the existence of any intangible energy and challenge its believers for proof. For such advocates there seems to be a linear equation between capabilities and accomplishments. They solely view their triumphs as their own efforts and do not assign any credit to the benevolent forces of nature in their victories.

If we view this school of thought at one end of the spectrum, at the other end we have those who do not assign any value to their own efforts and simply view themselves as incent bystanders of destiny, enslaved in the powerful hands of faith. Promoters of both extremes have one thing in common; they mistake spiritualty for a force beyond their control. One group denies this force by believing in self -power and the other relinquishes all power to this force, whereas in essence this is not an external force.

Spiritually in essence is navigating the world within, which grants us entrance to a world of power beyond what we can externally create. In this world, emotional experiences can continue to remain calm despite the worst of external circumstances. The power within overtakes every emotion, every sensation, and every experienced misfortune.

The magic of spirituality lies in the fact that we all have access to this inner utopia. All we must do is learn how to navigate the maze of the psyche to reach this ideal space within.

Spiritualty is not a practice we need to learn. It is simply taming our mind.
